Sergeant Cyrus

Sergeant Cyrus is the Scout Sergeant of the Blood Ravens Tenth, a Deathwatch veteran who trains the Chapter’s initiates in stealth. He regards concealment as the foundation of his instruction and has taught the Chapter’s initiates to move unseen. He is reluctant to speak of the Kaurava System.

Cyrus served in the Aurelian Crusades, where his experience made him the officer who already knew what the Tyranids do to a world that is unprepared for them. He fought on Calderis and Typhon, and he disputed tactics with those who served alongside him. He lived to see Kyras’s deception collapse.

The Boreale disaster in the Kaurava System forms the lesson he gives to recruits, though he does not name the captain involved. Its point is that the Chapter must not be expended for the sake of a speech. Cyrene was a recruiting world before it became a cautionary example. Cyrus continues to place scouts in the field because the work requires it, and because the Blood Ravens cannot afford another generation trained only to charge.
