Ironfound underhive investigation

On the forge world of Ironfound, Amberley Vail led her own Ordo Xenos investigation into smugglers of alien technology, a trail that ran from the upper spires into the underhive. Her warband, including the hired gun Pelton and other long-standing retainers, followed an ancient Aeldari artefact into depths where mutants, gangers and worse kept the dark. The inquiry exposed more than a smuggling ring. The artefact and a long-buried secret of Ironfound’s past turned a contraband case into a strategic problem for a world whose munitions output the subsector depended upon. Vail pressed the investigation in person rather than by remote warrant. Later the same Ironfound theatre drew Commissar Ciaphas Cain and the Valhallan 597th into a related war of Chaos cultists and Eldar raiders, continuing threads first opened by Vail’s underhive work. She remained physically engaged on Ironfound as those crises converged.
