Ironfound

Ironfound is an Imperial forge world whose manufactories supply munitions essential to the war effort of its subsector. Hive-spires and forge-fanes rise over deep underhive strata in which smugglers, gangers and worse move with less scrutiny than the surface allows.

Ordo Xenos Inquisitor Amberley Vail pursued a trail of xenos-technology smuggling on Ironfound that led from the spire heights into those underhive depths and uncovered an ancient Aeldari artefact bound up with a long-buried secret of the world’s past. The same forge later became the focus of a wider war in which Chaos cultists and Eldar raiders threatened its output, drawing in Commissar Ciaphas Cain and the Valhallan 597th.

Ironfound’s importance is practical rather than ceremonial: if its forges fall silent, the surrounding garrisons starve for shells and small arms. That dependence made both Vail’s investigation and the later Cain campaign matters of subsector security.
