Ork invasion and Tyranid reawakening

The Ork invasion and Tyranid reawakening was a campaign fought on Nusquam Fundumentibus, an ice world of cavern-cities whose capital was Primadelving. Sources disagree on its date: Cain’s biography placed his deployment in 942.M41, while the planet’s own article dated the Ork invasion to 937.M41; the chronology table did not date the novel recording the episode. After their transport crashed, Commissar Ciaphas Cain and the Valhallan 597th discovered a Tyranid bioship that had been woken by the fighting. They destroyed it by overloading the geothermal plant at Primadelving. After the hive-ship’s destruction Cain and Jurgen were taken into orbit rather than returned at once to the regiment. Amberley Vail’s private yacht Externus Exterminatus stood alongside a Bone Knives strike cruiser above Nusquam Fundumentibus, and there she debriefed Cain over a careful meal. She pressed him on Izembard’s dating of the buried bioship, troubled that it implied a Tyranid presence older than any contact recorded by the Imperium or the Ordo Xenos, and then proposed to borrow Cain and Jurgen for a further Ordo problem once the Valhallan clean-up no longer required them.
