Recovery of the Pontius

The Recovery of the Pontius was Eisenhorn’s seizure of a crystal holding the encoded mind of the heretic Pontius Glaw on Damask. Eisenhorn took the device from surviving members of a House Glaw cabal after the collapse of the Saruthi dig. Eisenhorn retained the crystal rather than destroying it. He later concealed it with Magos Bure on Cinchare, and over the following decades he treated the imprisoned mind both as evidence and as a temptation. The recovery ended one Glaw plot and began a longer conflict. That conflict concluded only when Eisenhorn killed Pontius, then inhabiting a mechanical body, on Ghül. Alizebeth Bequin was among Eisenhorn’s retinue on Damask during the Saruthi dig and the recovery of the Pontius crystal. On the subsequent Essene transit she spoke with the imprisoned intellect, an exchange that helped clarify House Glaw’s pursuit of the Necroteuch before the confrontation at KCX-1288.
