Colchis System

The Colchis System is a star system in Segmentum Pacificus containing Colchis, the desert homeworld of Lorgar and of the XVII Legion, the Word Bearers. Colchis was a world about three times the size of Terra, and it formed the seat of Lorgar’s desert theocracy, which is now lost. Its Covenant churches later turned to Chaos.

Pilgrims, priests and Word Bearers once filled the system. Kor Phaeron’s older faith and Lorgar’s later Lectitio Divinitatus, the doctrine that the Emperor is a god, grew alongside each other on Colchis. The theocracy thus preached the Emperor into a god and afterwards preached against him. After the Horus Heresy, the Ultramarines attacked Colchis with cyclonic torpedoes and left the planet dead. No recruiting world remains there.

The Colchis System retains a place on any map of the Heresy, although the planet is reduced to ash. The origin of the Word Bearers is a location rather than a fleet, and this is why the system is recorded as a fixed point. This unofficial summary places it in Segmentum Pacificus and does not relocate Lorgar’s homeworld to the Maelstrom or to Sicarus.
