Damnos System

The Damnos System is an ice-mining star system of the Vidar Sector whose principal world, Damnos, was the scene of Ultramarines campaigns against the Necrons. Among the Ultramarines, Damnos has become shorthand for fighting Necrons in snow-covered terrain. The system also contains Goethe Majoris, which shares the same charted gravity well.

Two engagements, the Fall of Damnos and the later Second Battle, drew on the Ultramarines 2nd Company and were fought across this system. Sicarius suffered defeat there, and Calgar returned afterwards to finish the campaign against the Necron tombs.

The Damnos System remains the star system most closely identified with Ultramarines warfare against the Necrons. Antax, the sector forge world, lies nearby but is a neighbouring system and not part of the Damnos System. Unofficial summaries place the system under the Vidar Sector and treat Damnos itself as a separate, subordinate entry.
