Gildar Secundus

Gildar Secundus is the principal settled world of the Gildar System, where Silver Skulls Captain Daerys Arrun died fighting Huron Blackheart’s Red Corsairs.

The Red Corsairs entered the Rift aboard the stolen vessel Wolf of Fenris. They lost Executor grand cruisers to the Silver Skulls Chapter fleet, then took refuge on inhabited worlds, Gildar Secundus among them. Arrun, who held the offices of Master of the Fleet and captain of the 4th Company, ordered the planetary assault and led the surface forces from the ship Manifest Destiny. Several weeks of fighting cleared the system of Corsairs. Huron killed Arrun in single combat and withdrew with enough followers to remain a threat.

Within weeks of the assault, the Silver Skulls declared the Rift free of Corsair influence. The escape of Huron and his surviving renegades from the duel on Gildar Secundus allowed the Red Corsairs to return in later years.

The world is the site of Arrun’s death and of the duel that ended the Chapter’s campaign against the Corsairs in the system. It should be distinguished from other worlds of the Gildar System. Quintus is recorded separately as holding the poisoned agricultural feeds, and Primus, Tertius and the outer worlds were not the scene of this engagement.
