Matteus

Matteus was a sergeant of the Silver Skulls 4th Company’s Squad Kyanite, killed during the Gildar Rift campaign against Huron’s Corsairs. The same fighting claimed Captain Arrun.

He led his squad aboard Corsair-held decks after the strike cruiser Wolf of Fenris closed on the wreck-choke at the heart of the Rift, then took Squad Kyanite dirtside to the inhabited stones of the Gildar system, where Huron’s renegades had dug in against the Silver Skulls advance.

Those who served beside him remembered a sergeant who kept talking in the approach to combat, falling quiet only once bolter work began — one of the few personal details to survive alongside the record of his death. Matteus was killed at Gildar Secundus during the purge of the system, in the final stretch of fighting before Huron quit the Rift.

Varsavia, his homeworld, had sent him into the Gildar campaign with the rest of the 4th Company; he did not return. His death, recorded alongside Captain Arrun’s, stands among the losses the Silver Skulls carried out of the Gildar Rift.
