Kaurava System

The Kaurava System is a star system in the Lithesh Sector of the Ultima Segmentum, contested by nearly every major faction after a warp storm. Its capital and most populous world is Kaurava I, an urban world whose control is treated as the measure of victory across the system. The remaining inhabited bodies are Kaurava II, III and IV, together with the outlying worlds of Irridene, Lacunae and Orridune, all bound within the same stellar system.

Kaurava has no Great Crusade household history recorded against it; its documented conflict belongs entirely to the 41st millennium. For most of its existence it was a peripheral holding defended only by a neglected Planetary Defence Force, of little strategic note to the wider Segmentum. A warp storm remembered as the Fury of Kaurava closed the system’s void approaches for a prolonged period, and even after it receded the same turbulence continued to make transit into and out of the system unpredictable, trapping every force that entered.

That reopening drew forces from across the galaxy into simultaneous conflict: the Imperial Guard and the Sisters of Battle moved to reclaim Imperial holdings, Space Marine Chapters answered the call to arms, and Chaos, Ork, Eldar, Dark Eldar and Tau forces each pressed their own claim upon the system’s worlds. These events form the setting of the campaign told in Dawn of War: Soulstorm, the third of the Lithesh Sector’s linked war-theatre campaigns after Kronus and Aurelia.

Each faction pursued distinct ends at Kaurava, from Imperial reclamation and Chaos incursion to Ork invasion, Eldar intervention, Dark Eldar raiding and Tau expansion, and the campaign’s branching structure means no single outcome is fixed as sole canon. Kaurava is accordingly remembered as a war theatre of the Lithesh Sector in its own right rather than as a forgotten hive world, and unofficial fan summaries keep the Lithesh Sector as its parent location without folding its four worlds into Kronus or Aurelia.
