Nuceria System

The Nuceria System is a star system in Ultima Segmentum, home to the primarch Angron, who was raised as a gladiator on its world of Nuceria. It was a society of the High-Riders, in which the Butcher’s Nails were in ordinary civic use rather than a secret held by a Space Marine Legion.

Nuceria itself produced Angron, known as the Red Angel, in its fighting pits. He returned to the system during the Horus Heresy, devastated the planet, and ascended as a daemon prince. Roboute Guilliman’s Ultramarines attempted to interrupt the ritual by which he did so. Lion El’Jonson later bombarded the planet from orbit and destroyed what remained of it. Angron is recorded as having felt the destruction from Terra.

Loyalist accounts treat the Nuceria System as a warning against allowing the home of a broken primarch to remain in existence. Unofficial summaries retain its placement in Ultima Segmentum and do not treat the High-Riders as still collecting a tithe.
