Sigma Pavonis

Sigma Pavonis is an Ultima Guard medicae world, presented in the Ciaphas Cain fiction as a hospital for traumatised Imperial Guard troops. Patients rest there until they are judged fit for service or are quietly converted into combat servitors. This map records the world under sigma-pavonis-system and does not file it with Pavonis, the site of the Nightbringer’s tomb.

Amberley Vail’s footnote in *Caves of Ice* is the principal published source. It observes that a major Imperial Guard hospital is also a major Inquisition servitor yard. Guard slang for combat-fatigue madness is “going siggy”. Simple cases return to the line, while the remainder do not return as men.

Sigma Pavonis is significant chiefly as a detail of the Cain narrative, not as a Necron industrial site. Unofficial summaries keep it within the Ultima system parent and separate from the Pavonis dossier associated with Uriel Ventris. They also decline to present its medical function as benign.
