Sigma Pavonis System

The Sigma Pavonis System is a star system in the Ultima Segmentum whose principal world is a Guard medical facility linked to Ciaphas Cain. That world, a medicae rock, also manufactures combat servitors. The system is distinct from Pavonis, the Nightbringer tomb associated with Uriel Ventris, which is treated in a separate entry.

Within the system lies Caves of Ice, a subordinate world at which troopers are held until they are either fit to return to the line or no longer recognisable as men; the source material describes such troopers as going “siggy”. The detail concerning that world belongs to its own entry, and the present entry describes only the gravity well in which the hospital is situated. No published fleet-base gazetteer supplies further information on the system.

The Sigma Pavonis System retains its standing chiefly as the system of Cain’s hospital world. Unofficial summaries place it in the Ultima Segmentum, keep it separate from the Pavonis dossier of Uriel Ventris, and do not treat the location as the seat of a sector.
