Yarant

Yarant is a world in the Segmentum Solar, the site of the engagement known as the Wolf Cull. Sources dealing with the Horus Heresy chart it as Yarant III, whereas some maps designate it Yarant II.

During the Wolf Cull, the wounded Leman Russ and the Space Wolves were besieged on Yarant by a mixed force of traitors led by Abaddon. The siege ended when Corax’s Raven Guard opened a passage out of the encirclement.

The world also figures in an earlier episode of the Crusade. During that period the IXth Legion, then in its early years, received a censure at Yarant for eating prisoners beneath the walls. Yarant is therefore recorded for two distinct events: the censure of the IXth Legion and the later siege of the Space Wolves.
