Magister Sek

Magister Sek, known also as Anakwanar Sek, is a Chaos warlord ranked among Archon Urlock Gaur’s chief lieutenants in the Sabbat Worlds Crusade.

Sek rose within the Archonate’s command as one of a dozen or so magisters who held territory and warbands under Gaur’s wider authority, a rank that placed him alongside figures such as Heritor Asphodel and Enok Innokenti in the Chaos order of battle opposing Warmaster Slaydo and, later, Warmaster Macaroth. His most distinctive act was the founding of the Sons of Sek, a warrior cult raised in secret on the agri world of Gereon during its occupation and intended to rival, and perhaps supplant, Gaur’s own Blood Pact in size and loyalty. To accelerate that project Sek held the captured Imperial officer Noches Sturm, breaking down the mindlock that sealed the general’s memories in search of Crusade intelligence, a scheme unravelled when a Tanith First-and-Only strike team under Colonel-Commissar Ibram Gaunt infiltrated Gereon and killed Sturm before his knowledge could be fully drawn out. Sek’s standing grew with the Sons of Sek’s reputation, and later tradition applies the title Anarch to him, marking him as a Chaos commander of the highest rank rather than a subordinate magister alone.

Sek’s career binds several of the Crusade’s notable episodes together: the occupation and eventual liberation of Gereon, the defection of the Blood Pact officer Mabbon Etogaur, and the recurring opposition between his forces and the Tanith First-and-Only across the Sabbat Worlds. Accounts of his ultimate fate amid the Crusade’s later years are not firmly settled, and he is remembered chiefly as the architect of a rival cult to the Blood Pact and as one of the Archonate’s most persistent commanders in the decades-long contest for the Sabbat Worlds.
