Watch Captain Artemis

Artemis is a Watch Captain of the Deathwatch and a Mortifactor from Posul, seconded to the Long Vigil for his record against xenos. He was taken from a feral world, and his proficiency against xenos, the Imperial term for alien species, led to his secondment beyond his own Chapter. He carries an augmetic (prosthetic) eye and arm as a consequence of that service.

Artemis ended a war against the K’nib, for which the Imperial Guard claimed credit. He also eradicated a Genestealer cult from a star system. On Coheria he interrupted a ritual conducted by Eldrad at a moment that undermined the purposes of Ynnead.

Talasa Prime continues to assign him to situations in which the alien threat has been identified by name. His engagements span several distinct species rather than a single enemy, and this breadth is the basis of his standing within the Deathwatch.
