Espandor
Espandor is a world recorded as the site of a battle in the Plague Wars, a 41st-millennium struggle between the Imperium of Man and the servants of Nurgle. The engagement is remembered chiefly as one episode within that wider campaign, and its place on the map is fixed by the world itself: the battle takes its name from Espandor and is anchored to it on the Orrery map and timeline. The Plague Wars are associated with the spread of Nurgle’s influence, and above all that of the Death Guard, into Imperial space. Accounts differ on how the fighting at Espandor began and on how long it lasted, and the surviving record does not support a precise date within the millennium, so none is asserted here. What can be said is that the battle belongs to the same period as the other engagements of the Plague Wars, and that its contemporaries should be sought among those campaigns rather than in unrelated conflicts of the era.
