Liberation of Ashek II
The Liberation of Ashek II was an Imperial campaign in 756–757.M41 in which Marshal Blackwood’s forces broke Heritor Asphodel’s hold on the planet’s hives. The operation combined Blackwood’s Imperial Guard regiments with the Titans of Legio Tempestus. Heritor Asphodel’s woe machines inflicted heavy losses on the Imperial infantry during the campaign. The Titans of Legio Tempestus then engaged the Hammerstone Kings in single combat, and the Crow-Hand died in orbit. A purge of the hives followed, in which Commissar Ibram Gaunt, then a young officer, took part. Asphodel fled Ashek II before the lava hills could conceal a counter-strike, and the hives passed out of the Heritor’s control. His machines next appeared on Balhaut.
