Nephilim War

The Nephilim War is the protracted Indomitus-era struggle for the Nephilim system, contested by Aeldari corsairs, Drukhari raiders and Imperial forces. Centred on a system-spanning webway gate of uncertain origin, the conflict is reckoned among the more persistent theatres to emerge in the wake of the Indomitus Crusade, drawing combatants from across the eastern fringe rather than resolving as a single decisive campaign. Accounts of the war’s opening phase differ, but its constant has been the contest over the gate itself: Aeldari corsair fleets, several bearing marks of Ynnari allegiance, have sought to seal or ward it against Drukhari raiding parties from Commorragh, who prize the system as both hunting ground and a route into the unguarded wake of the crusade fleets. The Dark Angels, alert to any anomaly touching the webway and its possible bearing on the Fallen, committed forces from the Rock to reconnoitre and, where possible, contain the fighting, giving the Chapter a standing interest in a war it did not begin. No faction has secured lasting control of the Nephilim system, and later Imperial assessments treat the war as unresolved rather than concluded, with the Rock continuing to serve as a forward anchor for Dark Angels operations in the sector. The conflict is counted among the Chapter’s Indomitus-era commitments alongside its wider watch for the Fallen, and it remains linked in Imperial record-keeping to the broader pattern of Aeldari–Drukhari webway contests reported across the same crusade era.
