Master Lazarus

Lazarus is Master of the Dark Angels Fifth Company and Keeper of the Unseen Ritual, an Inner Circle captain who would rather win the wider war than disappear into another Fallen hunt. He has said as much about Azrael. The Chapter has not yet decided whether that is wisdom or a problem.

He took the company after Balthasar died in the opening of the Great Rift, then nearly died himself on Rimenok under Thousand Sons sorcery that even a Dreadnought could not have held. The Apothecaries put him over the Rubicon Primaris. He came back the first Primaris in the Inner Circle, and the first Dark Angel to make that crossing.

The Rock taught him hatred of Chaos in the Siege of the Fenris System, when he was still a sergeant holding corridors with serfs. He still prefers that kind of fight. The Fallen can wait if the Imperium is on fire.
