Medusa System

The Medusa System is a mining-industrial cluster of worlds in Warhammer 40,000, associated with the Fall of Medusa V in the Ultima campaign. Its name is given as a courtesy to the Iron Hands Space Marine Chapter, but the system is not their home.

Medusa V was the hive that Van Grothe’s Rapidity ultimately consumed. The cluster also contains numbered sister worlds, a Sautekh tomb rock and a gas giant. During the campaign the Imperium attempted to evacuate the system, Chaos forces attempted to use the storm as a weapon, and other parties sought to plunder the declining industrial world. Lord Marshal Harazahn, Lucius and Ignatius Grulgor are among the figures recorded in these events; Ferrus Manus is not.

The Medusa System should be distinguished from the Iron Hands’ Medusa, which is recorded separately as medusa-1117 in the Sthenelus System. It remains a reference point for a disaster of the 41st millennium. Unofficial fan summaries keep it under its Ultima parent and do not merge it with the Iron Hands’ world.
