Nocturne System

The Nocturne System is the Salamanders' volcanic home star system in Ultima Segmentum, a death-world well whose oversized moon Prometheus wrenches the planet through a Time of Trial. Nocturne itself holds the sanctuary cities; Prometheus holds the fortress-monastery, so the Chapter lives in the same gravity argument that raises its recruits.

Vulkan walked these fire-plains. The XVIII still recruits from the tribes between eruptions, and later millennia have not given them a milder fortress. Two bodies, one culture: the moon pulls, the world burns, and the Salamanders call that home rather than a problem to be engineered away.

The Nocturne System still matters because the Salamanders will not be based anywhere cooler. Unofficial fan maps keep the Ultima parent and treat Prometheus as this system's moon, not as a separate Chapter world.
