Dalin Criid

Dalin Criid is a Guardsman in the Tanith First-and-Only, born on Vervunhive as the son of Gol Kolea. He is recorded as having been raised, following the upheavals on his homeworld, as the foster son of Tona Criid, a Verghastite trooper who took him and his sister into her care.

Dalin grew up in close proximity to the Tanith First-and-Only, a composite Imperial Guard regiment formed in part from refugees of the Verghastite levies, before formally enlisting as a Guardsman on reaching an age suitable for service. His upbringing within the regiment placed him among a small number of dependents who transitioned from camp followers to full combatants, and his service is recorded as coinciding with the eventual confirmation that his father, Gol Kolea, believed lost during the fighting on Vervunhive, had survived and rejoined the same regiment. This circumstance placed father and foster mother alongside him within a single chain of command, a dynamic noted as unusual within the regiment’s later history.

Dalin Criid’s standing within accounts of the Tanith First-and-Only derives less from individual renown than from his position as a representative figure of the regiment’s blended origins, embodying the union of Tanith survivors and Verghastite recruits who together constituted the unit after the destruction of Tanith itself.
