Hlaine Larkin

Also known as Larks

Homeworld: Tanith

Hlaine Larkin is a marksman of the Tanith First and Only, reckoned among the finest snipers to serve the Sabbat Worlds Crusade.

Larkin survived the Fall of Tanith as one of the regiment’s founding intake, carrying into later campaigns the forest-honed stealth of his destroyed homeworld alongside a marksman’s eye later sharpened under Colonel-Commissar Ibram Gaunt’s command. He is credited with naming the regiment during the fighting on Blackshard, coining the term Gaunt’s Ghosts that the Tanith First and Only carried for the remainder of the Sabbat Worlds Crusade. His closest working partnership was with fellow trooper Bragg, whose loss weighed on Larkin through subsequent campaigns and contributed to a nervous strain that recurred at intervals across his service without ever displacing him from the firing line. Despite this fragility, he remained one of the regiment’s most relied-upon specialists as the Ghosts fought on through Vervunhive and the later stages of the crusade, absorbing Verghastite volunteers into a formation Larkin had served since its first days.

Larkin’s standing rests on this combination of a founding survivor’s authority and a marksman’s proven skill, qualities that kept him close to Gaunt, Colm Corbec, and Major Elim Rawne even as command of the regiment changed hands over the crusade’s long course. Chief Scout Oan Mkoll, whose own stealth discipline paralleled Larkin’s sniper’s patience, stood among his most consistent contemporaries in the field. Larkin’s record remains bound to the regiment’s timeline from the Fall of Tanith through the Blackshard campaign and into the Ghosts’ later Sabbat Worlds fighting, with no confirmed account of his death recorded.
