Grand Master Voldus

Grand Master Voldus is the Grand Master of the Grey Knights, the Adeptus Astartes Chapter of daemon-hunters bound to the Ordo Malleus and based on Titan. The Grey Knights are organised into twelve Brotherhoods and act as the Imperium’s principal instrument against daemonic incursion, operating in secrecy and rarely appearing in wider Imperial record. Voldus commands the Chapter from its fortress-monastery, and is recorded as wearing Terminator armour and bearing the Nemesis weapons characteristic of the Chapter’s senior warriors.

Voldus’s rise to the Chapter’s highest working command is not set out in detail, and accounts differ on the length of his service. The Grey Knights conduct their campaigns against the daemonic largely beyond Imperial observation, so few of his individual engagements are attested by name; this dossier records only what is established rather than supplying battles the record does not support. His authority is exercised in relation to that of Kaldor Draigo, the Supreme Grand Master, who was drawn into the Warp by Mortarion and is retained in office in absentia. In Draigo’s absence, Voldus stands as the senior commander who directs the Brotherhoods in the field, under the Chapter’s long-standing bond with the Ordo Malleus.

Voldus’s significance lies in the continuity he provides to a Chapter whose highest seat is held by a name rather than a presence. On the timeline he belongs to the Grey Knights’ standing war of the late 41st Millennium and after, a period marked by the widening of the Great Rift and a rising tide of warp-borne threats. On the map he is anchored to Titan, the Chapter’s home and the point from which its Brotherhoods are dispatched. His nearest contemporaries in the graph are Kaldor Draigo and the Inquisitors of the Ordo Malleus, whom the Chapter serves.
