Solemnace
Solemnace is a Necron tomb world remade as an artificial Dyson shell, ruled by Trazyn the Infinite as the vault for his stolen armies and relics. A Dyson shell is a megastructure that fully encloses a star, and Trazyn – Archon of Solemnace and the Necrons’ most compulsive collector – has filled the resulting galleries with trophies, captives, and relics gathered across millennia of raiding rivals and enemies alike. Among the exhibits is a preserved clone of Fulgrim, primarch of the Emperor’s Children, kept as one item within a hoard that ranges far beyond any single war or era.
Solemnace’s notability rests less on contested ownership – Trazyn’s dominion over it is not seriously challenged – than on two episodes that mark its place in the wider galactic timeline. When Hive Fleet Behemoth’s tendrils swept through the sector during its advance, they diverted around Solemnace rather than consuming it, an anomaly attributed to the tomb world’s Necron nature offering the fleet nothing worth devouring. Centuries later, during the 13th Black Crusade, a warp shock radiating from the assault on Cadia was severe enough to draw Trazyn away from his galleries to intervene at the fortress world, a rare instance of the collector setting aside his curatorial isolation for a conflict not his own.
These two moments – a hive fleet that passed it by, and a collector briefly called away from it – define Solemnace’s recorded history more than any siege of the world itself. It remains, in the present era, an intact and undisturbed repository: less a battleground than a monument to Trazyn’s ongoing acquisitions, its true extent known fully only to its keeper. Its chief value to the wider narrative lies in this pairing of anchors – the Behemoth incursion and the Cadian crisis of the 13th Black Crusade – which fix Solemnace, and Trazyn’s attention, at two distinct and distant points on the galaxy’s timeline.
