Talassar

Talassar is a storm ocean world in Ultramar. It is not the birth world of Marneus Calgar, who was born on Nova Thulium in the Macragge system. Beyond its scattered rock islands, the world’s only landmass is a single continent, Glaudor, which bears the brunt of its ceaseless oceanic storms.

During the Shadow Crusade, the Word Bearers assaulted Talassar, and the Night Lords later occupied the fortress of Castrum Velx, stealing stores of Ultramarines gene-seed, the genetic material from which Space Marines are made. In 854.999.M41 the daemon prince M’kar assaulted Talassar, and Marneus Calgar fought him there until M’kar was destroyed. Accounts differ on whether Captain Severus Agemman and the 1st Company or Captain Cato Sicarius and the 2nd Company accompanied Calgar.

Talassar’s nobility also gave rise to the ducal title still held by Cato Sicarius, binding one of the Ultramarines’ most prominent officers to the world by lineage as well as by service. In the present era, the Void Tridents, a Chapter raised in the Ultima Founding, have made Talassar their home, keeping the storm world under Adeptus Astartes protection.
