Daemon Prince, The Reborn

Also known as M'Kar, Maloq Kartho, M'kar the Reborn

Homeworld: Colchis

M’kar the Reborn was a daemon prince, originally the Word Bearer Maloq Kartho, who repeatedly waged war against Ultramar. Prior to his ascension, Kartho served as a Dark Apostle—a priesthood rank within the Word Bearers—under Hol Beloth at Calth, where he sacrificed survivors during the Underworld War. Following a pursuit of Oll Persson that spanned centuries, Kartho fell through his own rift into the warp, an alternate dimension of psychic energy, and returned transformed into a daemon prince.

During the forty-first millennium, M’kar attempted to conquer Ultramar in successive campaigns. He opposed Draigo on Acralem, engaged Sicarius at the Halamar Rift, and attacked the star fort Indomitable, where Calgar neutralised him by confining his essence within a warp core. Honsou subsequently breached this containment and installed M’kar into a Dreadnought—a mechanised armoured combat walker—whilst the allied Bloodborn forces overran Talassar.

M’kar’s incursions ended after Uriel Ventris recovered the Shard of Erebus from the tomb of Ventanus. Confronting the daemon, Calgar spoke Kartho’s mortal name and severed his throat with the shard. This act inflicted a true death rather than a temporary banishment to the warp, permanently destroying M’kar and concluding his threat to Ultramar.
