Tartarus

Tartarus is a world in the Corribra Sector of the Segmentum Tempestus, and the setting of the Blood Ravens’ war for the Maledictum relic in Dawn of War. The Corribra Sector classifies it as an Imperial world. It is not a randomly generated hive-less wasteland named after a river. It was the first named campaign of the Blood Ravens in the Dawn of War video game.

Gabriel Angelos, of the Blood Ravens, fought Orks, Eldar and Eliphas the Inheritor of the Word Bearers on the planet. Farseer Macha’s Eldar sought to keep the Maledictum buried, while Sindri Myr of the Alpha Legion sought to use the buried stone as a shortcut to daemonhood. Angelos won the ground but destroyed the Maledictum in the process, and Tartarus suffered earthquakes as a consequence.

Later briefings continue to cite Tartarus as a caution against relics that act on their holders. The Dawn of War map remains the campaign the Blood Ravens are most closely associated with. This entry retains the Corribra Sector as the parent location. It does not merge Tartarus with Acheron, the setting of Dawn of War III, or with Kadaku, a world in Space Marine 2.
