Veridia

Veridia is the blue-white star of Calth; this location denotes the sun, not the planet itself. The entry therefore refers to the stellar body that lights the world, and not to the world’s surface or its inhabited regions.

During the Battle of Calth, the Word Bearers poisoned Veridia’s output. The star’s photosphere, its visible outer layer, then emitted sterilising flares that destroyed life on the planet’s surface. The flares compelled Ultramar to withdraw into the caves.

Veridia is significant chiefly as the means by which the surface of Calth was made uninhabitable during the battle. The star remains distinct from the planet it illuminates, and the two are recorded separately.
