Alivia Sureka

Alivia Sureka is a perpetual, an unageing human of great longevity, who lived as a healer and midwife on the world of Molech at the time of the Horus Heresy. She is one of a small number of perpetuals identified in accounts of the period, individuals whose extended lifespans predate the founding of the Imperium and whose nature sets them apart from the wider human population. Prior to the Horus Heresy, she was known locally on Molech simply as a village healer, her true condition unremarked and unrecognised by those around her.

Her role in recorded events centres on the Imperial defence of Molech, when the world was invaded by the forces of Warmaster Horus during his rebellion against the Emperor. Amid the fighting and destruction that accompanied the invasion, Alivia Sureka’s nature as a perpetual came to light, drawing her into contact with agents of the Emperor concerned with identifying such individuals. Accounts of the period describe her survival of the assault on Molech and her subsequent departure from the world, after which she is recorded as becoming associated with efforts, directed from Terra, to trace and understand the perpetuals living unnoticed throughout human space.

Alivia Sureka’s significance lies chiefly in her illustration of the perpetual phenomenon within the wider narrative of the Horus Heresy, a set of unaging figures whose existence complicates the era’s understanding of mortality and of the Emperor’s own concealed history. Though she held no military rank or political office, her survival of the fall of Molech and her later involvement with Imperial efforts to account for the perpetuals mark her as a recurring reference point in later accounts of that conflict. She is remembered less for direct action in battle than for the questions her existence raises about the hidden history of mankind that underlies the Horus Heresy.
