Alivia Sureka

Alivia Sureka is a perpetual who lived as a healer and midwife on Molech and survived the Heresy-era invasion of that world. Sureka belongs to the small number of such individuals identified in accounts of the Horus Heresy.

Before the rebellion she was known locally only as a village healer. Her true condition went unremarked, and accounts describe no one around her recognising it. This is characteristic of the perpetuals as a group: a person who does not age must either move on or be accepted as a fixture of the community, and the record does not say how Sureka managed this on Molech. Her origins before her life there are not set out in the accounts of the period, and later tradition should not be read as filling that gap with certainty.

Her place in recorded events begins with the invasion of Molech by forces loyal to Warmaster Horus, in the opening phase of his rebellion against the Emperor. In the fighting and destruction that followed, her nature as a perpetual came to light, and this brought her into contact with agents of the Emperor concerned with identifying such individuals. Accounts describe her surviving the assault, leaving the world, and becoming associated with efforts directed from Terra to locate and understand the perpetuals living unnoticed throughout human space. Those efforts fall within the wider pattern of Imperial preparation and intelligence-gathering by the Emperor and his closest counsellors, notably Malcador the Sigillite, during the Heresy. Other perpetuals in the period, such as Ollanius Pius, are the nearest contemporaries for comparison, though the extent of any direct interaction with Sureka is not established here.
