Falkus Kibre

Falkus Kibre, called the Widowmaker, is a Captain of the Sons of Horus who commanded the Justaerin Terminators and later served in the Black Legion. The Justaerin are the Legion’s Terminator elite, warriors who fight in the heavy cataphractii pattern of armour and act as a close guard around the Legion’s commanders. Kibre is recorded as having been born on Cthonia, the mining world from which the Legion drew its early character, and his title reflects a reputation for leaving few of an enemy’s formations intact. He was a trusted officer of Horus, but he was never a member of the Mournival, the small council of advisers around the Warmaster, which is a distinction between rank in the field and standing in the Warmaster’s counsel.

During the Horus Heresy, Kibre’s command placed him at the centre of the Legion’s principal engagements. He is recorded among the Sons of Horus at Isstvan V, where the Legion’s loyalist brothers were destroyed, and in the campaigns that followed, including the fighting on Molech. His closest working relationship was with Ezekyle Abaddon, First Captain of the Legion and Horus’s most senior battle-leader, whose orders the Justaerin carried out in the field. Among his contemporaries were Abaddon and the other members of the Mournival, together with fellow captains such as Khayon and Lheor, with whom he is later associated. Accounts of the later stages of the war, including the Siege of Terra, place him in the Warmaster’s following, though the details of his individual actions there are sparsely recorded.

After the failure of the Siege of Terra and the death of Horus, the Legion’s surviving officers had to decide whether to remain around Maeleum or to pursue a different course. Kibre is recorded as having gone into the Eye of Terror to find Abaddon, together with Khayon and Lheor, rather than await a return that did not come. When the First Captain reappeared and began to gather the Chaos Space Marine warbands into a single host, Kibre joined the inner circle of the resulting Black Legion. He continued to command Terminators there, under a leader who did not present himself as a second Horus but as a commander of a wider crusade. The Bringers of Despair are the Black Legion’s successors to the Justaerin, and Kibre provides the continuity between the two formations.

Kibre’s status in the present era is active, and he remains attached to Abaddon across both periods of his service. His place in the Orrery graph runs from Cthonia through Isstvan V and Molech to the Eye of Terror, and he is best read alongside the Sons of Horus, Ezekyle Abaddon, and the Black Legion.
