The Emperor of Mankind

The Emperor unified Terra after the Age of Strife, launched the Great Crusade, and still sits the Golden Throne as a decaying psychic beacon. The Imperium worships him as a god. He spent his living years trying to kill that idea.

During the Heresy he dueled Horus aboard the Vengeful Spirit. He nearly drank the Warp deep enough to become a fifth Chaos God before old companions pulled him back, then killed his son with an athame and was carried, ruined, to the Throne. He has not left it.

Ten thousand years later he still lights the Astronomican, holds the broken Webway shut under the Palace, and speaks almost never. Guilliman’s audience after Cadia was one of those exceptions. His body is a corpse. His war is not over.
