Renner Lightburn

Renner Lightburn was an Imperial operative on Sancour who allied with Beta Bequin during the Queen Mab and City of Dust episode of her hidden war. He is recorded as a man of the city rather than of the wider Imperium: his value lay in what he already knew of Sancour, not in rank, warrant, or patronage.

He walked the hive’s gates, its dust-mirror dangers, and the leftovers of Cognitae tradecraft beside Comus and Patience Kys, at the point when the Bequin name stopped being a simple inheritance and became something Beta had to earn against hidden enemies. In that company Lightburn functioned as the local hand: the one who knew which passages through Queen Mab still held and which had been salted with Cognitae tricks, and who was willing to stand his ground when the map itself turned hostile.

Accounts do not extend his part beyond this Sancour campaign, and no homeworld or earlier service is attested for him; his record begins and, so far, ends with Queen Mab and the City of Dust. Within that window, though, he is consistently placed as a trusted contemporary of Beta Bequin, Patience Kys, and Comus, rather than a passing contact.

Sancour and Queen Mab remain Lightburn’s fixed point in the timeline: a single, well-attested episode rather than a long career. His current status is given simply as active, with nothing in the record to suggest his story on Sancour has yet closed.
