Founding of the Grey Knights
The founding of the Grey Knights was the raising of a full Chapter within the Citadel of Titan, Saturn’s largest moon, during the Horus Heresy. Titan became the concealed fortress-world of the Grey Knights, and the Citadel remains the site from which the Chapter is associated. During the Horus Heresy, Malcador the Sigillite moved Titan into the Warp. When the moon returned to realspace, a full Chapter had already been raised within the Citadel. Nathaniel Garro is recorded among the early members from whom the Grey Knights developed. The founding established the Grey Knights within a fortress that also serves a defensive function. Titan’s batteries rank behind those of Terra, Mars and Cadia in the Imperium’s defensive order, and the Citadel forms part of the inner defensive sequence of the Sol system, in which it stands behind Terra.
