Azariah Kyras

Azariah Kyras is a Chapter Master of the Blood Ravens Space Marines Chapter, later exposed as a traitor to the Imperium during the war for Aurelia. He is remembered chiefly for the manner of his fall: a Chapter Master whose secret allegiance to Chaos was uncovered only after it had already reshaped the Blood Ravens’ command.

Kyras rose to the Chapter Mastership after Gabriel Angelos, the Blood Ravens officer whose exploits had defined the Chapter’s recent history, vanished amid a period of internal turmoil and suspicion over Chaos influence within the ranks. Presenting himself to the wider Chapter as a steady and orthodox hand at a moment of crisis, Kyras in fact drew upon power granted by the Ruinous Powers to secure and hold his authority. His rule reached its crisis on Aurelia, where loyalist Blood Ravens forces, led by another of the Chapter’s Force Commanders, moved to confront him even as the Chaos Lord Sindri Myr pursued his own designs in the same theatre, drawing Eldar, Orks, Tyranids, and Imperial Guard forces into the wider contest for the system.

Kyras’s exposure and defeat on Aurelia stand as one of the gravest internal crises in Blood Ravens history, reviving the Chapter’s long-unresolved questions about the purity of its gene-seed and its susceptibility to corruption from within. His fall is remembered less as an isolated act of treachery than as the point at which the Chapter’s command structure, and its founding legends, were forced into open doubt, binding his name permanently to Aurelia and to Sindri Myr as the era’s emblematic instance of a Chapter Master turned enemy of his own brothers.
