Sub-Commander Torchstar
Sub-Commander, Member of the Eight
Also known as Torchstar
Homeworld: Dal'yth
Sub-Commander Torchstar is the youngest of the Eight, Commander Farsight’s inner circle, and a Dal’yth defector to the Farsight Enclaves. She pilots a Crisis battlesuit with a marked preference for flame weapons, suffers from a pronounced claustrophobia at odds with her chosen wargear, and holds little regard for the sermons of the Ethereals, the caste that governs the T’au Empire she abandoned.
Dal’yth is among the oldest and most diplomatically prominent of the T’au septs, its Water Caste envoys prized across the Empire for their eloquence. Torchstar’s departure from such a world for the Eastern Fringe enclaves of the exiled Commander Farsight marked a deliberate rejection of Ethereal orthodoxy rather than mere battlefield opportunism, and she took her place among the handful of sub-commanders trusted closest to Farsight himself.
Her defining action came when a Tyranid incursion struck the Eastern Fringe: Torchstar reached the Enclaves too late to warn Farsight of the threat, but in time to pull his dying body from the field. While he still bled on the hull of her Crisis suit, she repainted its plates from Dal’yth green to Enclave red, an act she has since described only as a statement of work rather than a gesture of loyalty.
Her bond-mate later returned the captured Vision of Aun’shi to Aun’Va, Master of the Undying Spirit and highest of the Ethereals, yet Torchstar herself continued to fly in Farsight’s service. The T’au Empire brands her a traitor for her desertion, while the Farsight Enclaves count her as the eighth and youngest of Farsight’s commanders, a status she retains into the present era.
