Commander Puretide is the Fire Caste teacher later legends keep claiming they understood. Born on Dal'yth, he spent the Second Sphere founding septs with long-range fire and the kind of manoeuvre that bored even Orks. Damocles found him defending home. Raiders wrecked the body before age could.
He retired to Mount Kan'ji as a hermit with a treatise, and three students who actually listened: Farsight, Shadowsun, Kais. None of them held the whole lesson. Ethereals froze the best of his class for later wars. When he died they scanned the mind and called the copy an engram.
The Empire still quotes him. The chip still argues with living commanders. The man is ash on a mountain. The doctrine is not.
