Badab

Badab Primaris is the capital hive world of the Badab Sector, located near the Maelstrom in the Ultima Segmentum. It served as the seat of Lufgt Huron, also styled Huron Blackheart, whose Astral Claws, a Space Marine Chapter, made the world their centre of power and administration for the wider sector.

The Astral Claws held Badab Primaris while fighting other Chapters for the right to keep it, a struggle that lasted a decade and is recorded as having run through the early tenth century of the 41st Millennium. What began as a dispute over Huron’s refusal to submit the Astral Claws to Administratum tithe and recruitment oversight escalated into open secession, drawing in the Executioners and, for a time, the Mantis Warriors on the Tyrant’s side. The siege of the world ended the Badab War. The court of Huron Blackheart, styled the Tyrant, stood on one side of the conflict. On the other, the loyalist coalition that took Huron’s seat, known afterwards as the Palace of Thorns, included Carab Culln’s Red Scorpions, who formed the siege line, together with Tyberos of the Carcharodons, Asterion Moloc’s Minotaurs, Malakim Phoros of the Lamenters, Bray’arth Ashmantle of the Salamanders, and contingents of the Fire Hawks and Howling Griffons.

The fall of Badab Primaris broke the secession and closed the Badab War, though Huron Blackheart himself escaped the ruin of his seat; later chronicles record him continuing to raid Imperial space as a renegade warlord long after the siege. The Star Phantoms now hold the ruins of Badab Primaris, maintaining a garrison over a world that never recovered its former industry. The name Palace of Thorns remains in use for Huron’s former seat, and it continues to identify the site of the loyalist victory that closed the war, standing alongside the Red Scorpions’ later stewardship of the sector as the war’s most lasting legacy.
