Cyrene

Cyrene was a Blood Ravens recruiting world in Subsector Aurelia, destroyed by Exterminatus after Gabriel Angelos halted its Blood Trials. The planet was green, loyal to the Imperium and home to a large mutant population. It was also of use to the Imperial Guard.

Gabriel Angelos was born on Cyrene. He halted the Blood Trials, the process by which the Chapter selected recruits there, and called in the Inquisition. The Exterminatus that followed consisted of a week of cyclonic fire and left nothing alive on the surface.

The Blood Ravens still wear fragments of the planet’s crust as penance armour, the only surviving material trace of the world. Cyrene lay in the same subsector as Typhon Primaris and Calderis, where the Chapter under Davian Thule also maintained a presence. It is recorded chiefly as Angelos’s birth-world and as the site of the Blood Trials he halted.
