Iron Father Feirros

Iron Father Feirros is a senior Iron Father of the Iron Hands, the Space Marine Chapter descended from Ferrus Manus’s X Legion and centred on Medusa. The Iron Fathers are the Chapter’s order of Techmarine-equivalents, combining the duties of armourer, engineer and ritual custodian of the Chapter’s war machines with a place in its clan-based command structure. Feirros is recorded within that order in the present era of the 41st millennium.

The Iron Hands draw their warriors from the clan holds of Medusa, and their culture holds the flesh to be weak and the machine to be a mark of purity, a doctrine inherited from the Legion and its close ties to the Adeptus Mechanicus. Within that setting the Iron Fathers occupy a position of unusual authority, since they maintain the Chapter’s armour, weapons, vehicles and augmetics and are consulted on questions of doctrine as well as repair. Feirros is described as holding this office among the Chapter’s clans, and accounts place the character in the Chapter’s wider circle of senior officers rather than at the head of it.
