Shadrak Meduson

Shadrak Meduson of Clan Sorrgol was an Iron Hands officer who sought to unite the Shattered Legions against the Sons of Horus after Isstvan V. The Iron Hands’ command had been destroyed in that engagement, and Ferrus Manus was no longer present to direct the Tenth Legion’s survivors.

Medusa required a warleader capable of directing Salamanders, Raven Guard, and Medusans against the same enemy, and Meduson undertook that role. His doctrine was guerrilla warfare: forces struck, withdrew, and struck again, declining the pitched battle that Perturabo would have preferred. The campaign inflicted enough damage on the Sons of Horus that Tybalt Marr made Meduson’s death a priority. Marr caught him in the Aragna Chain and killed him.

Meduson was the one Iron Tenth officer whom the survivors had followed in practice. After his death the Legion divided into clans once more. His concept of a unified campaign persisted in later raids, which continued to operate as though the Tenth retained a single striking force.
