Shas'la T'au Sha'ng, Longstrike, is the Fire Caste's tank ace, a Hammerhead pilot who treated the Taros desert as a shooting gallery and then refused to stop when his bond-mates were already wrecks. Leman Russes died at six to one. A Warhound took a railgun to the head. The name followed the last shot.
The Empire put him in the XV02 Pilot Battlesuit so the gunship would not need a crew, just a man who already aimed as if the railgun were a finger. Other Hammerheads have gunners. Longstrike is the gun.
T'au claims him. Taros remembers the dust. The Greater Good likes a hero who can delete armour from over the horizon and still be billed as a shas'la. Sha'ng does not argue the billing. He argues windage.
