Shas'O Kais is a student of Puretide and master of the Monat, the lone-warrior school, the commander who took Fire Caste, Kroot, and Vespid to Kronus in the Dark Crusade and offered his enemies the Greater Good before erasing them. The Blood Ravens declined. They also won the planet.
He is not the Fire Warrior shas'la of the same given name. This Kais was frozen between wars with his mind left on, writing tactics against every foe the Empire had already met. When the Fourth Sphere needed a commander who had already died of patience, they had one.
T'au still files him as a hero of the caste. Kronus files him as the xenos general who almost held a world against too many other flags. Kais would call both outcomes data. Puretide would have marked the restraint, then the annihilation.
