Isstvan V Dropsite Massacre
The Isstvan V Dropsite Massacre was an engagement in which four Legions presumed loyal attacked three loyalist Legions from behind on Isstvan V. It took place in the Urgall Depression, where the loyalist forces had landed to fight the traitor Legions. The primarchs Ferrus Manus, Vulkan and Corax led their Legions in an assault on the Legions that had openly declared for the traitor cause. Four further Legions, presumed loyal, then attacked the landing forces from behind. This second wave included Curze’s Night Lords, among whom Sevatar fought. Ferrus Manus, primarch of the Iron Hands, died in the battle, and the three loyalist Legions were severely depleted. Their destruction opened the route to Terra. Forces of the later Scouring returned to Isstvan V to clear the fortifications there, and the name Isstvan V now denotes the massacre itself.
