Isstvan V

Isstvan V is the site of the Dropsite Massacre, in which three loyalist Legions were attacked from behind by four Legions that had been presumed loyal. The engagement took place in the Urgall Depression, where the loyalist forces had landed to fight the traitor Legions.

The primarchs Ferrus Manus, Vulkan and Corax led their Legions in an assault on the Legions that had openly declared for the traitor cause. Four further Legions, presumed loyal, then attacked the landing forces from behind. This traitor second wave included Curze’s Night Lords, among whom Sevatar fought. Forces of the later Scouring returned to Isstvan V to clear the fortifications there.

Ferrus Manus, primarch of the Iron Hands, died in the battle, and the three loyalist Legions were severely depleted. Their destruction opened the route to Terra. The name Isstvan V now denotes the massacre itself.
