Inwit
Inwit is an ice world of hive-caverns and nomad clans, where Rogal Dorn rose to rule the Inwit Cluster. Born to this frozen domain, Dorn united its warring hive-clans through generations of conquest before the Emperor’s Great Crusade fleets found him already a warlord of proven standing. His forces were merged with the VII Legion, the Imperial Fists, giving the Legion its home world and its founding martial character: a discipline shaped by siegecraft, endurance, and the hard logic of holding fortified ground against the ice.
During the Horus Heresy, Inwit did not escape the civil war that split the Space Marine Legions. Traitor forces besieged the planet, striking at the cluster Dorn had once ruled and at the Legion’s recruiting grounds directly. The Inwit system’s wartime importance is bound closely to nearby Phall, where an Imperial Fists task force returning from the Isstvan campaigns is recorded as having been ambushed by Traitor Legion forces in the Heresy’s opening stages — a companion theatre that, together with Inwit, marks the VII Legion’s early trial by betrayal.
In later ages, Inwit’s ice has periodically hosted the Feast of Blades, a martial tournament gathering the Imperial Fists and their successor Chapters in trials of arms and honour, reinforcing the world’s standing as a spiritual centre for Dorn’s lineage even as the Legion itself was divided by the Second Founding.
The Imperial Fists continue to recruit on Inwit into the present era, and its orbital shipyards rank alongside those of Jupiter and Mars among the Imperium’s foremost centres of naval construction. This dual role, as both a wellspring of Astartes aspirants and a forge of warships, keeps Inwit bound to the Imperial Fists’ fortunes across the millennia, from Dorn’s own rise to the Chapter’s ongoing wars.
