Camba Diaz

Camba Diaz was captain of the Imperial Fists 50th, the Inwit officer who went to Mars with Sigismund and later held the Fourth Sphere as Lord Castellan when Terra itself became the wall. He was a garrison mind in a Legion that had to learn cities the hard way.

On the Pons Solar, at the Eternity Wall, the Saturnine assault finally found him. Diaz died in that slaughter, a Castellan who had already spent his company keeping the Palace's approaches honest. The bridge did not hold because it was stone. It held because men like him stood on it until they could not.

Sabik Wayland later put the sword Durenda into the war as Diaz's last usable argument. The 50th did not recover their captain. They recovered a blade and a reputation for dying in the right doorway, which is as close as the Seventh comes to a eulogy.
