Amandus Tyr

Amandus Tyr was an Imperial Fists captain who commanded the battleship Halcyon and died attacking Perturabo’s flagship in the Phall System. He led the Sixth Company and served as an Inwit officer. Dorn, the primarch (Legion commander) of the Imperial Fists, sent him against Perturabo, the primarch of the IV Legion, who was styled the Lord of Iron, with the aim of inflicting losses on him.

Tyr used the Halcyon as an offensive instrument and relied on teleportation assault as the decisive means of settling a void engagement. He boarded Perturabo’s flagship, the Iron Blood, with a kill-team that had expected to face Perturabo as a target that could be overcome. The encounter with Perturabo and Forgebreaker on the flagship’s deck disproved that expectation. Tyr died there, and the Imperial Fists of the Seventh Legion did not achieve a victory at Phall that had appeared within reach.

His armour was later found among wreckage at Brisengard. The Imperial Fists recovered it rather than leave it where the IV Legion might keep it as a trophy. The Sixth Company did not recover its captain, only the relic. The episode remains a record of the risk of teleporting onto a primarch who had already resolved the outcome of the fight.
