Minka Lesk

Minka Lesk is a Cadian soldier of the Astra Militarum, recorded in Imperial accounts of the world of Cadia in the period of its final defence and fall. Cadia was the fortress world of the Cadian Gate, the principal route between the Eye of Terror and the Imperium’s interior, and its regiments supplied a large share of the Imperial Guard’s fighting strength. Lesk belongs to that tradition of Cadian soldiery, raised on a world in which military service was the ordinary expectation of every citizen.

The surviving record of Lesk’s individual career is sparse, and accounts differ on the particulars of her rank, regiment and actions. She is placed at Cadia during the period known as Cadia Stands, when the Cadian defenders held the world against the forces of Chaos in the 13th Black Crusade, led by Abaddon the Despoiler. Her service is therefore best read within the wider course of that war, in which the Cadian regiments fought alongside the Adeptus Astartes and other Imperial forces under the command of Lord Castellan Ursarkar E. Creed. No specific alliances, rivalries or commanders can be attributed to her with confidence, and none are asserted here.

Lesk’s standing rests on her connection to the defence of Cadia and on what the Cadian soldier represents in the Imperium’s story: a citizen-soldier of a world that held the Cadian Gate until its destruction. Her fate is not securely recorded, and her present status is treated as unknown.
